Irrigation Pipeline

An irrigation ditch supplied surface water from a high mountain stream to a flood irrigated pasture. Over half of this mile long ditch was carved into a remote, rocky hill side. Two sections were particularly bad and used riveted metal pipe to span the rocky slope. Once the riveted pipe failed, the landowners decided to replace this section with 1/4 inch metal well casing on concrete pillars. Due to access issues, all work needed to be done with minimal mechanical equipment. Concrete was mixed on site and packed 300 yards using 5 gallon buckets. Block and cable rigging was used to place the steel pipe and to suspend the portable arc welder for field welds.
